This document is a letter that can be used to formally request joining a general partnership venture. This document can reflect whether the request is a response to an advertisement published by the partnership, or as the sender's personal decision to apply for a partner position within the partnership.

A General Partnership is a business arrangement where two or more persons come together to run and own a business together in which they will share responsibilities, assets, profits and all/any arising legal liabilities associated with the business. The partners also have the option to leave the partnership if they choose by informing the other partner(s) using a notice of withdrawal.

The partnership will decide whether to accept the sender's request in accordance with the conditions for accepting new members contained in its Partnership Agreement.

The document provides a simple template that enables the sender to clearly outline what makes them a suitable candidate for the general partnership. This document can be used for any partnership that is registered and operating in the jurisidiction of United Kingdom.

How to use this document

This document should be filled in properly so that the details of the sender, the partnership and the partner the letter is addressed to reflect accurately in the letter.

Additionally, the sender should make sure the address and details of the recipient are inputted accurately. The sender has the opportunity to include more details about themselves including their skills, experience and specific expertise. The sender can also explain in their own words why they feel they are a good fit for the partnership.

Under UK law, a partner can be a corporate entity (i.e. a company). Hence, where the sender is a company, the name of the company as it appears on its official documents should be stated in this letter. Consequently, a company sender will state the experiences and competences that are most applicable for its request.

Upon completion of this document, it should be signed by the sender. The letter can then be posted to the recipient's address.
