Request for Leave Extension

The Leave Extension Request Letter is a document by which an employee who is currently on leave requests to extend their leave. The letter a used when I'm employee wants go prolong their leave for some reasons.

When an employee is granted a leave of absence for a particular period, they are expected to resume on the date stipulated in their leave. However, some unfortunate circumstances may cause an employee to extend their leave, and to do so, the employee would need to write again to their employer, informing them that they would not resume work as planned and explain the reason for their need to prolong the leave.

How to use this document

In this document, information, such as the nature of the illness and the contact details of employee requesting the leave is requires. The employee may also enclose their medical certificate or report to support this application.

After completing the document, it should be printed and signed by the employee sending this letter. The signed letter can be sent to the employer or a person in the employer's organization who is required to handle leave requests in the organization such as the human resources officer, the employee's supervisor, or any other officer at the organization.

Note that this notice can be sent as a letter or via email. The employee sending the notice should also keep a copy of this document for their record.

Applicable law

There is no special law regulating Requests for Leave Extension. However, the Labour Act, 2004 regulates matters affecting employees, including sick leaves.
