Rent Receipt

A Rent Receipt is a document acknowledging that a landlord has received the rent for a rental property. This serves as evidence of rent payment to the landlord. The landlord is the owner of the rental property and the tenant is the party who occupies the rental property and pays rent to the landlord.

The contents of the rent receipt include the name of the landlord, the particulars of the tenant, the address of the premises, the rent, the payment method (such as cash, cheque, bank transfer, money order etc.), the date the payment was made, any outstanding rent (if any) etc.

How to use this document

This document can be used by a landlord or property manager to provide evidence of payment of rent. This document can only be used after the landlord has received payment of rent.

After filling out this form, the party issuing this receipt (such party may be the landlord or property manager) should sign the document and deliver the receipt to the tenant. After this, the landlord or property manager should keep a copy of the receipt for their record.

Applicable laws

The Tenancy laws of various States which stipulate that a rent receipt must be issued to a tenant, are also applicable.
