Freelance Agreement

The Freelance Agreement is a contract between the freelancer and the client to provide specific services to the client. The Freelance work or gig in this context is broad as it covers different areas of work, including software development, tutoring, and other services. A freelancer is a person contracted by the client to provide specific services for the client, usually for a specified period. Clients choose freelancers based on their intellectual skills, and contracting a freelancer may be cheaper than having an employee.

The Freelance Agreement is not an Employment Agreement as a freelancer is not an employee of the client but an independent contractor who controls how they render their services. Clients usually hire freelancers for specific projects or to provide work that requires the freelancer's skills and expertise. In addition, unlike an employee, the freelancer does not receive employment benefits such as annual leaves, insurance, retirement benefits, and allowances.

However, the freelancer is more likened to a service provider as they provide specific services where the freelancer's skills are required. However, the Service Agreement is more general, while the freelance agreement is for a limited period, usually shorter periods, and often for intellectual work. For example, a freelancer could be hired to do a photo shoot, website design, document review, and other work. Note that this document is similar to the Freelance Writing Agreement. However, the Freelance Writing Agreement is focused on providing writing services only.
